This is My Why

I just wanted you guys to get to know me a bit more. I thought I would tell you my why. why I take photos. I'm not only writing this for you, but also for me. I think everyone should just sit down for a minute and think about why they are taking the path they are. Obviously we know why. Although, sometimes when life gets hectic and the tasks get overwhelming, we just need to sit. and remember why we love what we are doing and why we should pursuit our dreams even though the right now is rocky.
So I heard a quote once by Emily Dickinson. "That it will never come again is what makes life so sweet." I'm pretty sure there's a whole poem to it, but that's the part I heard and I feel like its the most accurate way to describe my why. They say photography is like freezing time and it really is. Below is a picture of an old Fireworks store on the Tennessee Alabama state line. Every time I see it makes me giggle. All I can think is that it used to say fireworks, it now says wireforks and in 5 years it might not be there at all. In five years it is possible that no one is going to have the pleasure of driving across the state line and seeing this funny little sign. For that reason is why i take photos.
I'm never going to be able to set these donettes up like this again( pictured below)! I could never light it exactly the same way, get the crinkles just right, and some days that just blows my mind. How we and everything around us are constantly changing and typically it always just feels the same. I could have put action shots or baby pictures and gave you the same speech but I just wanted to guys to think about it a little harder than that. how delicate and ever changing life is.
This post may have gotten a bit lengthy or serious. I feel like I'm not typically this serious but its my why and I'm passionate about it. So if you've made it this far, Thanks. I hope you enjoyed it and I hope it inspires you to sit and think about your why. Weather you're a nurse, teacher, musician, or stay at home parent. Remind yourself why you love to get out of bed everyday and do it again.
